quick question regarding memory sticks

So, currently I have 2x512mb Corsair 667mhz DDR2 sticks right?

I'm planning to purchase another 1gb and found a good deal on an OCZ gold edition 1024mb DDR2 800mhz stick(one stick not dual). I was wondering if it will operate great as it's a single stick instead of dual?? Will it affect anything with my other 2 sticks in the case?

Thanks

It's probably not a good idea as your MOBO is a dual channel MOBO. You should use 1, 2, or 4 modules but never 3 in that board. If you want to increase the memory, I would suggest buying a 2gb or 4gb kit of some suitable memory for that MOBO. There are some VERY good deals around.

so I should purchase another 2x512 or if I find a good deal 2x1024?
Also does brand matter? sometimes I find OCZ sticks getting cheaper and at an affordable price. Would mixing up the brands + mhz make a huge difference in performance? Cuz OCZ is like 800mhz and mine currently is 667mhz.

Brand is up to you, I can't really advise you there as I may be a bit biased. :D

Mixing memory can be unpredictable. I would suggest a minimum of a 2 x 1gb kit as they are dirt cheap these days. Then, if you want, you can try mixing the old memory in. If it works, great. If not, sell it or use it for another system. If the mixing works, you get 3gb, if not, you still have 2 x 1gb guaranteed to work.

alrite cool thanks

hopefully theres some cheap deals for some 2x1024 up here

I agree that purchasing a 2gb (2 x 1gb) kit of memory is your best bet. Mixing RAM can be dicey. Even getting a "matching" kit for a product that was manufactured a few years ago can be a problem as RAM IC's likely have changed in that time. You should be able to find something affordable.
