I almost have my new system together. I bought the Visiontek 4870 card, just one - did not go the Crossfire route.

I plan to get a larger monitor (have a 19" CRT now)...was thinking 24"....but am also tempted by the Doublesight....though I read there is a newer Doublesight coming out soon.....

Anyway, since I am only using the one card, but from everything I read, it is a fast card, should I have any issues with a 24 or 26" monitor? (at higher resolutions, and for gaming....

Thanks!

Nope 48xx cards handle high res alot better than nvidia cards.

You shouldn't have any issues. I don't have any with a 4850 on a 24", and the 4870 is 15 to 20% faster so I would say you should be pretty happy.

I recently debated the purchase of a 4870 quite heavily.

I ultimately decided on the 8800 GTS for budgetary reasons. The 4870 was going for $309 at the lowest while I found a 8800 GTS for $180 after mail-in rebate.

I've been led to believe that if you have a recent Intel duo or quad, the 8800 will handle 1900x1200 just fine. If not, then I'll be sending it back to GTS and getting the 4870.

Please let us know how it works out though!

Thanks...I will....now the final decision is the monitor.....the Doublesight seems to be a clear winner....though it is a bit more than I wanted to spend....and it is good for gaming, right?

Sorry dude, I was just reading up on the 8800 and they don't seem like they'll handle 1900x1200 gaming nearly as well as the 4870, so if you've got the cash, the 4870 sounds like a winner. You might wanna look into the 4870X2, which is supposedly coming out soon. I'm about to research all this stuff myself.

The Doublesight is supposedly great but jesus it's expensive. You talking about the $720 DS-263N?
=============
Yes, that is the one, and yes, it is expensive....was just reading the review of the BenQ V2400....sounds like a good monitor. Was also looking at the Planar monitor....

I will have to keep researching!!
