So at the office here we're setting up a large monitory array with sixteen 24" Samsung LCD's and I'm looking for a way to power them all on simultaneously using a remote or switch of some sort. I've seen all the power-source remotes and such but when the power cuts to the monitors they remain off when the power comes back on, I need something that will power them on as well as off.

Please let me know what you think is possible, any ideas beyond the power-switching would be very helpful.

Might not work given the number of screens and probably multiple pc's but the only thing i can think of is to set the pc's to turn off the monitors after 'n' number of minutes. That puts them into standby. A quick waggle of the mouse of keyboard button press will bring them all back on again. Obviously this will depend on your setup oh and not disconnecting power to the monitors and just leaving them in standby. Thats probably the easiest way. The monitors should each use less than 1watt in standby mode so it should be cheap enough to leave them in standby mode.

Just an idea :)

Thanks for the quick response skirrow. We had thought about standby for the screens but the users don't want to have to access the PCs to turn them on (because the users are AWESOME :p )

any more ideas?

You could use a wireless mouse and it would be the same as pressing a button on a remote. Not sure how many computers are going to be pushing all these monitors but you would need only 4 of those quad head matrox cards to push all 16 monitors, reducing the requirements to only one computer.
