I'm looking to get a second display for my laptop. I don't plan to try to game with both monitors running. For the most part I just want the second monitor for screen space. I do some processor intensive tasks, but video card isn't a major issue to my general computer usage.
Will having only one mid-upper range laptop graphics card actually cause any problems?
Second monitor would be 1680 X 1050 22" (same res as my laptop screen).
Thanks. =============
Shouldn't be any, maybe more heat....but long as you aren't gaming in windowed mode, shoudl be fine. =============
What laptop/GPU you running?
I can run 1280x800 + 1680x1050 off my 8400GS in vista aero without any ill effects, so you should be fine. =============
I'm running it off of an 8600m gt.
What about playing old games in window mode, like warcraft III? =============

You could play in windowed mode or just in lower resolution and let the monitor either stretch the picture or just display it 1:1. All newer and at least average monitors can do this. =============
