Can running an LCD monitor at less than its rated resolution damage it?
The reason I'm asking is that my brother refused to run his 20" Samsung 203B at anything higher than 800x600 for 18 months and it died completely over the weekend(all it would do is quickly flash the blue LED in its power button). It has been sent off for repair under warranty and I was concerned that if the resolution was a factor it might damage it again when it goes back into service (if I can't finally get my brother to run it at the higher resolution it was designed for that is).
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. =============
No,
That would definitely not be a reason for a monitor to fail. Even using 75hz refresh on an LCD shouldn't cause this. The monitor probably just died on its own with no help from the resolution or computer.

Thanks for the reply.
Hopefully the repairs they do to the monitor last a while. :) =============
