It sounded like a good idea at the time.
I thought my monitor(MAG ) was going out. White line scrolling up and down, screen jumping, screen going black. It could be quite hot at the back of the monitor.
So I get the bright idea to take of the cover and clean it out. I do know there are high voltages in there, that is why I touched nothing but plastic.
I then cut a hole in the cover and put in a small fan to exhaust the heat. turned on the monitor and then the fan and...click..click. click. I could hear the area of the fan sparking and could see it, but there was no smoke.
I quickly shut off fan and then monitor.
I didn't have computer turned on while doing this, but when I turned on computer, I could tell it was booting, but there was no picture.
The monitor is 8 years old and I thought it was about to die anyways.
So did I hasten its death?? =============
It's probably about time you got rid of that old CRT anyways. Please do yourself the favor. =============
I am wanting to do that. I would like to get the dell 2408 24" or the dell 22" forget model.
I have really like the monitor I have and If I could get it fixed without emptying my wallet..I would.
I am, however, gonna give the lcd's a look =============
