okay so I heard silver is free forever (but it has limitations on what you can do) and I am guessing that changed from 12months free silver to forever free.

and gold gives you everything. I am getting halo 2 but my cousin says you can sometimes get 2-month subscription cards in games. wouldn't this be for the regular xbox...what can I do with it with xbox 360?

When you buy a 360 you get a 2 month of subscription of gold membership. Also, all Xbox 360 will have a free silver subscription. If you have a silver membership you get everything the gold members get except online playing, the main reason you even get Live for ;)
If you have an Xbox Live membership (for the original Xbox that is) you can allways transfer it to the 360, but you can't go back then (from the 360 to the Xbox).

I heard that Soviet downloaded a demo in 20 minutes..that is very good considering Halo 2 maps take longer :P

Small things (like trailers, themes, and gamer pictures) take only a little while if you have a good connection (just a a few minutes or so), the arcade games take about five-ten minutes at most and the demos for 360 games I would say are about 20-30 minutes.

You might have days when you can play on xbl sliver. But you can't play games every weekend.

I am not a current xbox gamer. This will be my first console from microsoft. my cousin says that some games come with free 2-month subscriptions for the regular xbox. not having an account for the original xbox or anything like that...what can I do with this card? can the subscription for the original xbox work on the 360?

I don't think the 2 month free will work on the xbox 360, but it might. Also most are expired and dont work. Sliver is free for life. Theirs no 12 month sliver card, only a 12 month gold card.

All xbox 360s have a free trail to gold for 30 days. You just make an account and it will ask you about the trail.

They both come with Gold trails but the core ver doesnt have the headset that might be the reason premium says gold.

ok here is a question i cannot seem to get answered. If i purchase another 360 and transfer my tag from my current 360 will gamerscore transfer over or will it not? I am under the assumtion that if the game saves are not there then my score will not transfer, is that correct?

I'm not an expert so don't shoot me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure it would. The gamerscore is recorded on Live not on your HDD.
