since the PS3 came out in the UK, the craving for one set in....but i allready got a Wii for Christmas.

So, what im thinking is should i sell my Wii, Gamecube, Xbox, two PS2's, and about 13 games for a PS3?
do you think its worth it or should i wait a while for one? (yes im aware the replies maybe biased seeing as this is the PS3 forum...)

Seriously whats up with poeple these days? This is the second topic I have seen where someone is willing to trade all there consoles they own for something they have no reason for wanting(or at least no reasons were given). Do you want a PS3 just because of the Sony name?

Without giving any info on how the PS3 will benefit you or any real reasons for wanting one then I would say its not worth giving up all your consoles for something you dont have any reasons for wanting.

Id suggest researching the PS3 and see what it can do(only a google search away or just look at the PS3 info sticky guide at this forum) then come back with reasons for wanting the PS3 so you can get some more helpful replies.

Everytime I play Saints Row on multiplayer all I get is Americans, I hardly ever get players who are from the same country. The UK which is where I live has always been a Sony holding ground and the Playstations have been the No. 1 consoles.

Thats probably because the PS3 has been out here for a couple months rather than days! Also the 360 is just now taking off in Japan so they would have lower numbers on LIVE as well. The UK has been patiently waiting and saving up for the PS3 and I sincerely hope they are not let down. I have always been a Sony fan, and always will be. But i have seen maybe 2 great titles since launch. If the UK launch is better then ours was, then I would say, yes go for it. But for us Americans, stick with the 360 for now and save up for when the Sony heavy hitters arrive this fall!

Thats because more Americans have it and have had it for months. It doesnt matter what we say as the choice is yours. Do you know everything the PS3 can do and what games are out? Thats what you shoud be looking into and ask other poeple last after you found out the features you like about the PS3 then ask us about them.

If you listen to other poeple who say get a PS3 and you do yet the PS3 isnt as great as you thought its your problem and not ours. Same goes for if you keep your 360 but your not happy with it since the PS3 might be the console for you but since we arent you we cant tell you which is best for you. May I ask why? Is it the Americans that you disagree with? I'll have you know that I was born in Wakefield and moved to the states only five years ago. I know how we can be biased towards American opinions, but please keep an open mind. I come to you as a gamer that has owned every home console since the Atari 2600. I would not dare give you bad advice. I only give you my personal view on this matter as I do not like what the PS3 has to offer right now. Maybe I am a little bias due to the fact that I love RPG's and am not one for FPS's. So with the current US games available I am not impressed. So therefore I have sold my PS3 until a game of a much higher caliber is available. I would recommend that one hold off until this fall when the quality games are released and just maybe a price cut on the PS3 as well?

Well like I said before it all comes down to you, you can be patient and possibly save some money or waste it and buy one now. But if you waited you could possibly see a price drop of €60! then you could buy a PS3 and an extra game for what you would pay just for a PS3 now.

I wouldn't dare, I don't think the PS3 has blown anyone's socks off yet. IMO, there just aren't enough great games to keep you occupied for long, where as you can get hundreds of great games for the PSCubeBox dirt cheap.

I, too, "needed" the latest greatest and bought my second game for the system four months later. In the interim, I picked up 30 PS2/Xbox/Xbox360 games.

The way i see it software emulation is like an emulator and hardware emulation is liek the real thing. So with hardware emulation(like having a real ps2 bulit in) will play pretty much all games a real ps2 will play whil software emulation(like a ps2 emulator on a pc but better since its made by the company who made the ps2) is an emulator which doesnt always play all games. Like how ther PS1 emu for the PSP doesnt play all PS1 games yet a actually PS1 would. The cool thing about software emulation is that you can improve upon it(which is why emulators of systems have alot of extra features like online support etc) which is why it allows(I think) to upscale some PS2 games to 1080i/720p.

Man if you were to get a PS3 right now what game would you buy? What accessories would get? How much would it cost for everything you want? You should write this down so you have a estimate of what your going to spending if you do get one. The PS3 is almost double the price of the 360 so dont think you can just exchange the too hehe. And dont forget if you do get the PS3 and it ever gets boring(it will its new and cant do too much) your out of luck as it will be all you have.

Well the first thing that is important is that I want the price to be as low as possible, because the lower the price the more we sell – we're a software model.

The cost of retail is vastly more in the UK than it is in the US and that's before you even stop to consider the US doesn't have VAT at RRP, they put a small amount on afterwards. Whereas, we get stung by 17.5 per cent. And pity the poor Irish and places like Sweden.

But we have to remember this is no different to selling a cup of Starbucks coffee or a McDonald's hamburger. This is the cost of living in the UK. If you want the PS3 then go ahead and buy one. With the exception of RFoM and Motorstorm it doesn't really have much going for it in the game department ATM. However if you like the idea of having a box that can double as a game console, media hub, Linux based PC, and a DVR (via Myth TV on Linux) then it's a must buy IMO.

If Media is important to you then you cant do any better than a 360+media center pc+tv tuner. I have all those 3 and my 360 is my media hub. With my tv tuner I cant watch/record live tv in HD on my 360, with media center I have 120gb storage space for all my music/videos/photos for my 360, and all my videos/music/photos are still on my pc so I can watch them on the go and not only on my 360.

Tons? Just a bit, but yes, I have having to have my PC on to listen to music, or put on my iPod, and it doesn't even let me move them from a DVD to the hard drive, what is that BS? I have all my music on my PS3, and I just plugged in my iPod and hit copy.

You wont use your pc for media at home because you wouldnt need to. You use your pc for media when your on the go(if you have a laptop). Streaming content doesnt take up any power at all and the point of it to me anyway is to save time/space. And media center is awesome with a tv tuner and my recorded Lost episodes in HD are around 3.2gb size each which would eat up PS3s and xbox 360 bulit in harddrive quite quick. Imo its pretty pointless to have to transfer songs from one media hub to another. Its so much easier and better to be able to stream it. But ya to each its own I guess.
