I'm sure they'll be plenty of you out there that'll just love the idea of EA taking a liking to Steam... ;) =============
I think they see the writing on the wall. If they dont start using steam to deliver their games faster to consumers, piracy will eat them alive. Movies, music, games need to be cheaper and easier to get. By using steam (or something similar) EA cuts down their expense og getting a game to a customer (downloading vs going to store to get physical media).
Anyways interesting that EA plans on using steam and not making something in house. Hope i havent misread anything from theInq.

Doesn't matter if it's not cheaper. Unlike Valve, EA is a publisher and even though something like Steam will cut its costs, will they transfer those savings to the consumer? =============
Only if it will boost sales to the point where they will make a higher profit. =============
EA is a dev too. Soon i will never have to go to the game store... =============

And we will only interact with other humans online. Then the AI will be so good that we think we are interacting with humans, but it's the governmental AI. Then we're screwed. :) =============

You know this board is populated almost in its entirety by government-run bots, don't you? Look out your window, how many of those out there do you KNOW are real people?
Hey, tell me this - have you ever had a dream that was so real that you..... errr..

i like the idea of downloadable content. i HATE the idea of some client software 'logging' in and running everytime i boot. (i hated having to kill steam when i wasn't gonna play hl2).
why can't you just fire it up like you would a game? or a browser? =============
Eh, you can stop Steam loading at startup, and make it something you only start when you want to play. Then kill it when you've finished.

I think this is what he is complaining about. =============
