Before I start, I use a MacBook Pro, OS 10.4.10
Currently, my iTunes library is on an external HD. I'm going to keep the music where it is on the external but I want to have a different computer to be able to connect to that library. The last time I did this, when I went from my old G4 to a MacBook Pro, I did all the steps for my laptop to "point" to the external HD. After doing this, many of the video podcasts were no longer listed in their appropriate listing in the iTunes browser. Some of the video podcasts would show up in the Movies listing and in the Movies folder. Physically moving the podcast files back into their podcast folder will not make them show up in their podcast listing.
I would also get the Subscribe buttons in the browser. If I clicked it, some of the podcasts (not all) would disappear in the browser listing and be updated with a new listing; I know this happens sometimes when the podcast provider removes podcasts or moves them to a different server. But all my podcast files on the external HD would still be there, they just wouldn't be "detected" by iTunes. Or, podcasts I've already downloaded would now show up as new podcasts that would have to be re-downloaded in order to show up in the listing.
I believe when I did this I may have deleted the iTunes Music Library.xml file before doing the steps to refer to the external HD. I'm wondering if this .xml file makes iTunes "remember" where all my files should go in the browser listing and if it keeps the podcasts intact without having to resubscribe.
Basically, I want to have all of my podcasts as they currently appear on one computer to appear on another, without having to resubscribe or re-download and having all listings intact. =============
