Should I install the new iTunes 7.62? I have 7.61 right now and its working fine.

Apple never tells you whats the difference between the last version and the new version of iTunes.

I don't know what they've done to it. Maybe fixed stuff that people want to use such as making your own ringtone without having to purchase the song at iTunes.

Is it safe to download and install iTunes 7.62 for people with Unlocked and Jailbroken iPhones?

I'm seeing on the Apple forum that it fixes the problem where the last few seconds of the last song on a CD is no longer cut off. I didn't even realize that 7.6.1 was doing that, but sure enough if you listen closely to CDs you've ripped with 7.6.1 the last song is truncated just a little bit. I didn't even notice, until now. I'll eventually re-rip with 7.6.2 if no horror stories about it emerge.

Visible changes appear to be pretty much non-existent beyond a few performance improvements, at least on the Mac side.

It seems to use less processor horsepower now in general terms -- in the very least it doesn't get the fans up and going on my MacBook Pro. Further, the last version was a bit sluggish when trying to sync multiple devices (I regularly have two iPods, an iPhone, and two Apple TVs connecting in whenever I start iTunes, and I could expect a beachball for about 30 seconds while I waiting for the syncing to kick in). 7.6.2 is noticeably zippier in that regard.

Two of the last itunes updates I did took out my podcast directory on the iPod (one being the disastrous one which blanked the entire iPod). The only way I got the podcast directory back was to wait for the next update.

Can anyone confirm that your podcasts are still intact and happy after this update?

Well, I've never had that issue with any iTunes upgrades, so it's probably not very useful for me to mention that I didn't have that problem with this upgrade either, but there it is... :)

Since loading it, every time I start iTunes Windows has to "configure" iTunes. Also, it won't sync (update) contacts. At least I haven't lost them. Anybody else with these problems?

The configure issue can be fixed by replacing the Apple provided shortcut with one you create from the executable.

The Apple shortcut is trying to "fix" your shortcut alterations (like moving where they are in the Start Menu) so if you delete the Apple shortcut, right click the exe and create a new shortcut, copy that shortcut to what you use to start iTunes, the configure issue goes away.
