Hi, I am using a 60GB iPod Video with iTunes 6 for Windows.

At the very bottom of my iTunes Music page, it says 8608 songs, 26.5 days, 63.75 GB.
But on the Devices>Summary page under Capacity, the chart shows Audio 34.37 GB, and Free Space 21.23 GB.

Which one is correct? Yes, all the songs are actually in my iPod and I can play them, but how did I squeeze 63.75GB of music into a 60GB iPod AND still have 21.23GB to spare?

It's elementary. Some of the stuff on iTunes aren't in iPod.

You are 100% sure there are 8608 songs on your iPod? I doubt it... Forget what that summary page says, go into your iPod and read out the number of loaded songs.

It is possible that some songs are not loading into your iPod for a number of reasons. They might be unchecked and you have your setting to only synch checked songs; the files may not be in a format supported by your iPod; you are synching to less playlists than you think; ...

Correct.

Before I fine tuned my SPs I would occasionally have a video file or two get into the list that I sync with my 1G nano. So while iTunes shows the list as having 500 items for example, my iPod will only show 498 items because the two video files won't get loaded.

you might be interested to know that i cleared out all my duplicates, compared my itunes library to the songs and my ipod, then re-synched.
my itunes ipod status page now says: Capacity 55.68GB, Audio 33.95, Free 21.65
but my itunes library shows 8463 Songs, 51.57GB.
on my ipod, Settings>About 8475 Songs, Capacity 55.6GB, Available 27GB.
i don't know what happened, but i definately did not delete 4,000 duplicates. maybe a few hundred. it remains a mystery to why i cant get them in synch...
