I have a 5g ipod. and I'm an idiot.
I was trying to charge the iPod by plugging it in to a powered usb hub instead of my PowerBook. Well the USB hub is powered by a variable voltage ac adapter. i plug in the iPod, no charging. I notice that the adapter is set to low voltage (3v) and so i figure i up it to 5v, well when i push the knob, boom it went all the way to 12 volts. USB hub dead. i pulled the ipod off and it says very low battery. so i plug it in to the computer to charge. now its getting very very hot and doesn't seem to be charging. I figure i have done enough at this point and better seek some help. i don't want the damn thing to melt, and i mean its getting reallllllly hot. like i can only stand to touch it for about a count of two.
Did i kill my faithful little ipod? if so could i fix it b y replacing the battery or is it totally gone? =============
