I have a iPod nano 4 GB that has a frozen screen. I'd be grateful to know how I can unfreeze the screen. Further to this problem, none of the buttons are working. Many thanks.

When an iPod is frozen it means you can't do anything so none of the buttons working is not a separate problem. Unless, you mean something different? Is it still playing and the screen hasn't changed and the buttons don't do anything?
Do you know how to do a hard reset? Toggle (on then off) the hold switch then press and hold the menu and center buttons at the same time (best if done on a flat surface, and make sure you're not press any other buttons) hold the buttons until the apple logo comes on the screen then let go. This should reset the iPod and hopefully get things back to normal.
