I have a ipod video that will not turn on unless it is on a charger. It will show that it is fully charged while on it's charger, but when I take it off, the screen turns black and won't turn on.

When I try to connect to the computer and itunes, itunes won't recognize it, and the ipod itself gives a warning "battery too low, please wait"

I don't have a warranty anymore, so I was hoping anyone might have some info into what is going on and how to get it fixed.
