my ipod's warranty hasn't expired, and i was wondering if i could turn in my broken ipod in? some water went through and damaged it. will they accept it? what will you do if you were in my position? thanks! =============
Water damage is not covered by the warranty.
If given an opportunity to dry out, some water damaged iPods will get new life, but in general water damaged electronics are dead as door nails.
You are looking at a new iPod, as water damage often will have wrecked havoc on the internals of the iPod, so full repair may be more than the device itself, though you could always look into repair through third party vendors such as iresq.com and other iPod repair sites, but if I were you and sure it was dead, I would simply look into purchasing myself a refurbished model.
And we will not allow any discussion on defrauding the warranty here. =============
Is it true that they actually put a little strip inside the iPod that when they open it they can tell water got in it due to a color change? Not sure if that was just a rumor or not. =============
I know a lot of cell phone companies are using this now. I don't know if the iPod does.
But if there is any corrosion in there, they will generally blame it on water damage regardless. =============
bad news for me then. thanks for replying. =============
