Hi...
I just got my new ipod classic 80gb,
and sadly, with my sweaty hands, I dropped it, and, well, kinda died.
It just keep on rebooting with the apple logo. tried the restore with disk mode thing, tried everything, and nothing help.
considering the warrenty doesnt cover drops, what should I do now? except of using it as an expensive door brick? =============
It's very likely that since the Classic uses a hard drive for media storage that it got borked when it was dropped, especially if it was spinning when it hit the floor. You might want to take it to an Apple store and have a technician look it over to see if you did indeed damage the disk. If this is the case your only options are pretty much to either a) pay to have them replace the drive or b) purchase a new iPod. =============
Did you try a simple disk scanning utility that checks for bad sectors? If not, try formatting the drive in NTFS and then doing a restore. That will guarantee a clean restore.

ah i just a classic 80 too, and i too have sweaty hands.. better watch out. =============
Hey,
1.Where can I find this utility? the scandisk thing that comes with windows wont scan the ipod hd.
2. When I try to format it using the right click formant in windows, I can choose a type, and so I cant format. I also have linux if you know how can I do it in there...
Thanks. =============
I have just been given a new ipod nano for Christmas, but I can't get it to run at all. I went to the apple website for the manual, but when I tried to access it my Firefox told me there was a trojan in flycodec.exe so I deleted it then the video was unable to play as it required the codec file to access it! Catch 22! What do I do now? =============
