i broke this little bitty brown plastic wedge thing. where can i get another one or what can i use in it's place? =============
i've searched and searched the internets and i can't find anything. nobody knows.............? =============
you might have to call apple to order it.. im not sure what it is =============
Check out a company called MCM Electronics (http://www.mcmelectronics.com)
They used to sell a bunch of different microelectronics connectors and such. I didn't find it on their site, but they may have it if you call. If they don't, I bet you can get pointed in the right direction.
Amphenol makes a lot of those types of connectors. (They make a lot of a lot of different types of connectors...) Look up Amphenol and see if you can find a direct to consumer reseller.
It's entirely possible this was a proprietary connector made for Apple and your best bet might be to contact a seller of a trashed iPod on eBay and see if you can snag one that way. =============
If the pins are still there, just connect it up, put a dab of glue on it and put the ipod back together. To really replace it you will need a soldering iron, and unless you have a couple years of soldering experience you'll just end up making it worse.
Another option would be one of the ipod repair services. Good luck. =============
have you tried ifixit.com (http://www.ifixit.com)? =============
thanks for your suggestions. i'll try those places. =============
The exact piece broke on my iPod. If all the pins are still there your good, if not you gotta guy a whole new Logic Board. It will run about 100$. =============
