I'm sure this is a really stupid question, but how are you supposed to get your pictures, taken on the iPhone, onto your PC? The iPhone shows as an Apple Camera in Windows Explorer and I can open it and see icons for each of the photos but it fails to copy them onto my local drive (if I copy and paste I get a zero byte file, if I use the wizard I get an error for every single one).
So far the only method I have found is to email them to myself, which results in horribly compressed, low quality images.
Am i missing something obvious??
TIA,

Hmmmm.... very odd this. If I use the wizard and keep pressing the Retry button when the message comes up it will eventually copy them all, but I don't understand why I'm getting the problem in the first place.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Cheers,

Have you tried using something like Picasa to import the photos? =============
Yep, that's flaky as well and takes multiple attempts.
I'm thinking something along the lines of USB drivers at the moment, but I'm not sure.

The problem is very likely a USB driver conflict somewhere.... The import process should just work quite smoothly, as the iPhone simply appears as a digital camera using the PTP protocol.
Check to see if you have any other digital camera drivers installed, or any other USB drivers that might conflict. Certain anti-virus software can also cause similar conflicts, so temporarily disabling that and/or looking for an update may be an option as well. =============
Thanks for your reply. I've double-checked all of that including uninstalling all USB devices and reinstalling the latest versions. Still no good.
I've tried it on a different PC and it works without a hitch, so I know it's not the iPhone or the cable.
It's not the end of the world - they do copy across eventually. It's just a bit of a chore...

Yeah this sounds like a USB driver problem. I remember when I built my own PC I always had problems with USB because I hadn't installed the drivers properly for my motherboard. Go to your PC manufacturers or motherboards website and look for any driver updates there. =============
