I've got the yoga down
I just need to eat better.
I'm either bordering on overeating or not eating at all
I need to know what to eat. I'm getting rid of meat in my diet, simply because i don't really want it there anymore.
What meals that i can eat everyday that will fill me up and be beneficial to my weight loss
I have until the middle of august to lose some more weight. I've been doing fine so far, but i'm not doing it healthy, i can admit to that.
I want to eat healthy and continue to lose weight. help please :) =============
I can totally relate. I workout like everyday, but I can't get the eating thing down.
I know www.vegsource.com has some pretty good recipes without meat. If you have a natural foods store, go by there. They usually have some pre-packaged foods that are very healthy and don't have all the sodium most prepared foods do.
I know this topic has been brought up lots of times in this forum, but check out the body for life program too. There is a lot of information on the website about diet. I think there may be some recipes and meal plans as well. =============
Yes, go to http://www.bodyforlife.com .
Or alternatively, http://www.muscleandfitnesshers.com .
Really, I could rant for hours about what people should and shouldn't be eating but I don't have time right now... which is good news for you! ;)
So here are some basic guidelines:
:) Eat 6 small meals a day if possible, or 3 medium meals with 3 snacks if 6 meals is inconvenient.
That way you'll never be hungry.
:) Drink 10 glasses of water a day - plenty with each meal. Messages will be sent to your brain that you are full up and your body will no longer feel the need to eat. Water increases the satiety of any meal.
:) Eat meals with a good fibre content (more than a few grams). Fibre also makes you feel very full up. Things like bran cereal (but any cereal should have more than 2 grams of fibre per serving) or wholemeal bread or some types of oatmeal are good.
:) Eat a portion of protein with your meals (or a protein shake if you can't find food with a high protein content). Your body cannot store excess protein and therefore you will not crave more once you have finished eating it.. unlike carbohydrates. Veggie burgers, tofu, yoghurt, cheese, nuts, beans, and vegetarian alternatives to meat are all good for protein.. although take it easy on the cheese because it contains way too much saturated fat.
:) Eat foods with a low glycemic index. This means food that does not cause a huge spike in your insulin levels. You will feel fuller after you eat. Here are some low GI foods:
Beans
Apples
Dried apricots
Cherries
Plums
Grapefruits
Tinned peaches
Pears
Milk
Yoghurt
Peanuts
This is all I can think of for now. :)

*edit*
I've thought about becoming a vegetarian in the past. It's still something I may do one day. But I don't think I'm quite ready to at the moment. I've got to tackle my issues with over-eating first.
But for right now, I think the best thing for me to do would be giving up beef and pork. I don't even like them all that much. Should have taken the clue that I could live without them, since whenever I go to a restaurant--I order chicken.
This I think I can do in addition to trying to keep my over-eating under control. I know that if I tried to take on both at once, I'd fail at both. =============
