It's a sad day for the power hungry Laptop users as one of the main boys has now ended up in financial Administration.

Basically, if you weren't an Alienware fanboy, you'd pretty much end up with a Rock laptop instead.

Warranty Work, New Orders and Support have all ceased with most of Rocks employees being made redundant. Even the forum has been taken offline.

Get this, a snippet from a release on their site:

'The failure of Rock is partly attributed to the cash flow difficulties faced as a result of stock misappropriation by a former employee. This led to suppliers reducing credit limits, further adversely impacting upon cash flows. As a result of the recent difficulties faced by Rock in obtaining regular supplies of key components, Rock had effectively ceased to trade prior to the Administrators appointment.'

Down to one Employee?!?!?! The Poor Guy/Girl :( I feel for them, could have been a simple mistake, bit harsh publishing that on their site don'chya think?

EDIT: It was down to a an Employee, however it was due to the fact he stole LOTS of money and LOTS of stock to fund a gambling habbit. Sad, Sad day

Could it mean stock as in shares? That is what I assumed when I saw it.

Either way not good news for any users - hopefully it will get bought out by another firm with good customer service. If it was just financial problems unrelated to sales then there is a good chance someone might just buy it out and start trading again.

Over-priced pieces of kit tbh, but nice laptops.

Had one in a little while ago for repair - the customer nearly had a buckle when he saw the price it was, spares are crazy prices :)

I feel a lot more sorry for them than a bleeding tealeaf. Crap stock control tho' if one person can nick that amount. Should have computerised it.

Bad news. I own a Rock Extreme CTX Pro and it's a brilliant bit of kit and handles everything thrown at it. Rock were great to deal with and speak English (Dell, please note!). The guys on the forum were extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

A sad day for the small guy!

Thanks for the info Brownie. It does make you wonder how he got away with it for so long. I should imagine the guys sat at his online poker table had a field day! Why do I always find the people who know how to play! :)

i have to admit looking back at what I wrote was a bit wrong, when I hadn't been to sleep all night, all I thought stock misapropriation was somebodies error, not theft :redface:.

He deserved to go and deserved to be shamed :)
