It's the ULTIMATE "girl band!"
Twelve Girls Band (http://twelvegirlsband.com/bio)
Anyone know about these ladies? Apparently they're all the rage in Japan and they're gonna tour & drop their CD stateside in August.
I just got this sent to me via email , so I have no idea what the sound is supposed to be like. If it's good I'll pick it up, but I have this funny feeling it might be Kitaro redux... =============
yeah it seems new age-y, by looking
at the instruments they're holding.
the long haired girls looks like gwee shins
in their white outfits. =============
i have one of their CDs (bought it at NYC Chinatown). they sound ok, but nothing to get too excited about in my opinion.
there was a thread about them a long time ago, but i can't find it. =============
How would you describe their sound, though? Traditional or contemporary take on traditional? Something you could read a book by or hear as ambience when walking into a mall? =============

they are more traditional than contemporary in my opinion. but it's still kind of contemporary. i guess you could read a book by it. but i'm not sure i understand what you're asking. i can read a book by most music. =============

I guess I was wondering if it was a nice, leisurely kind of toe-tappin', head nodding kinda melodic music that fades into the background of your brain after a few minutes and you don't even realize you've been listening to it...this happens to me with certain string-based traditional music...as opposed to like, drum-based such as taiko... =============

well their songs are not all mellow, if that's what you're wondering.
anyway, their CDs are available online (http://us.yesasia.com/en/artIdxDept.aspx/aid-523537/aname-12-Girls-Band/section-music/code-c/version-all/atype-G/). =============
