New Line Picks Up Vampire: The Requiem

New Line Cinema has optioned feature rights for the role-playing game Vampire: The Requiem from White Wolf Publishing for producer Adam Fields. Variety says the studio is eyeing the property as a potential franchise property.
The game introduces a contemporary horror universe that details the night-to-night life of vampires. Just as it's up to the game players to create characters and plots, a screenwriter will also be charged with creating characters and a storyline for the adaptation.
"Requiem" and its ancillary role-playing products will be published Aug. 30 through White Wolf's World of Darkness imprint. The game is a successor to White Wolf's 1991 "Vampire: The Masquerade," which spawned the short-lived 1996 Fox series Kindred: The Embraced.

The game is a successor to White Wolf's 1991 "Vampire: The Masquerade," which spawned the short-lived 1996 Fox series Kindred: The Embraced. I enjoyed the premise behind the TV show, so it'd be cool if they started making movies off the platform. Even cooler if they have Kate Beckinsale in tight leather and the movie doesn't suck. =============
i duno, maybe vampires freak me out but yeah, the game just gives me the creeps, i dont care if it does use the source engine =============
Is this White Wolf's way of getting back at "Underworld"? =============

well any movie that gets the vampire ball rolling compliments any other vampire movie (until the market gets saturated) =============

No, but the makers of Underworld were sued by White Wolf, because they basically took their RPG and turned it into a movie, without giving White Wolf any credit (or money... it's always about the money).
I used to play the Vampire RPG, so I'm very familiar with the cyber-goth/supernatural world that White Wolf had created. It's an exact rip off. =============
