Screenwriter Ben Ramsey ("The Big Hit") has signed to adapt Dragonball Z for the big screen for 20th Century Fox, reports Variety. Dragonball Z was adapted from the "Dragonball" manga created by Akira Toriyama and later developed into a Japanese anime series.
"Dragonball Z" follows the adventures of an adult humanoid alien who's just discovered that he was sent to Earth to blend in and destroy our population but instead elects to protect it from an oncoming alien onslaught.
Ramsey recently wrote the adaptation of Marvel's Luke Cage at Sony's Columbia Pictures, as well as Static for Columbia-based producer Neal Moritz. =============

Actually the Japanese people have done a live action one and it's more comical rather than serious as how it is shown.
This Hollywood version is most likely going to flop because, well.... Going to be Hollywoodise from the special effects and cgi graphics when they get to the fight scene. I mean, The Matrix Revolution pretty much had the DBZ style fighting and it was pants... =============

Yes, pants meaning it is bad. Yet you call trousers, pants when really pants are cacks. =============
Who in their right minds, would think that Dragonball Z would be great as a live-action flick, in the first place? Is there a market for it, at all? What were the people smoking? =============

I've heard about it, but I've never seen it. How bad is it? =============
i'd rather watch the cartoon...i can't see a guy who has the goku hairstyle =============
Aren't some of those characters on Dragonball Z Asian? Guys like Krillan and Yamcha, sorry I don't know how to spell their names. By the way, has anybody seen Dragonball GT? =============

The only non-Asian characters are the aliens and Hercule's lackies. Heck, Goku's an alien and he looks Asian.
As for Dragonball GT: Yup, I've seen it. It's not too bad, but if you're looking for something as edgy as Dragonball Z, then you'll be bored. GT brings back the innocent charm of the original Dragonball series, although I really think that they try too hard, at times. However, it has pretty high production values and I love that Trucks is somewhat of a babysitter. =============
