I am wondering if anyone out there is running there 80 Series on gas.
Whats the fuel consumption like?
Given the rising price of petrol , and the fact the Government rebate is still going is it worth it.

i got my 80 series with gas on it already. I run it out so it dont run and put 90L back in and get around 320 to 350 ks a tank. At shell or wollies with discount its about 50 to 55 dollars. Pretty consistant as well be it highway or town useage.
Cheers

My 100 series gets between 380-400km from 85 lts around town and better on the highway as i usually run it out so I make sure it still gets driven on petrol. =============
Thanks Fellas.
I have a local mechanic here who specialises in Gas conversions and 4WD repairs he has an 80 he tows a 30' caravan with.
Cost $2800 with the rebate , about a $800 outlay plus a spare wheel carrier
There is a supplier in SA does a wheel carrier for about $570, Might be able to get a bar and carrier from a wrecker though.
Cruiser is pretty much standard, allthough money I had aside for the gas conversion went to a motor exchange as I ran Ethanol in it over a Month ago , blew the head gasket, On pulling the motor down you can see the scorch marks on the top of No 1 and No 6 Piston heads, and the Reconditioning mob said that ethanol wil do that.
Anyway thats another expensive story. DONT RUN ETHANOL, Not designed for high compression motors, Ok For Low compression jobbies in Brazil.
Have been through Yarra Valley with my Job, Loveley place .
Thanks again.
