Just past few days my Landcruiser has been getting sluggish & underpowered mainly around Hills & after coming up & down a hill along a flat run. I asked a mechanic he suggested change the Diesel filter so I had done that & bled the diesel through until it squirted with no air. Ok all is good i take it for a drive and still the same problem. So I added fuel treatment for the injectors to clean them, still no go..

Along the highway i can get the cruiser up to 5th Gear doing around 100kmh And she's flat and then it starts under powering dropping down to 90kmh then 80kmh. By now sluggish has set in and have to pull over to idle out the sluggish in the engine.


[ Spoke to my work boss who is in the Diesel Know, having operated trucks and buses most his life, he said the filter may have been dirty, and after that the water filter should have been cleaned the same time, as it may have been clogging the fuel line also. ] Though someone else may have a better idea ...

Anyone around the Rockhampton area know where i can get a bleeder nipple for the 2h diesel a spare, but if not will have to check the few wreckers to solve my problem. Or cost of a aftermarket anyone have an idea?

my 75 did the same thing,driving along and all of a sudden it would lose all power,mine would die as soon as i stopped,it was loosing fuel pressure.but would idle ok. had a look and my fuel filter looked like someoe had juiced an orage into it.was full of rust. i had to get my tank cleaned,new filter,

it ran ok for a while,but now injectors are buggered.getting fixed in afew weeks.
id check your tank for sure,was the fuel in the filter dirty?

All Fixed at the cost of $15 for the bleeder and nut thread. 2nd hand from a guy who enjoys dismantling 4wd's as part time hobby. I advertised on Freecycle chasing the part and the guy responded which gave me really good help.

And $21 for a white Surge filter under beside the chassis from REPCO.

So all up $36 to finally eliminate my problem, the engine has more power on the peddle for a diesel.

Yep it's white and an entry hose point and an exit hose point for the diesel line. Had to explain what it looked like to the counter guy before he said. " yep now i know what it is " lol.

Nope. The water trap is attached to the chassis under the driver's seat.

yeah the water trap should be removed cleaned and refitted. after doing that the fuel system will have to be bleed

Did you look to see how much gunk was in the filter? If it's a lot, you may want to see if the tank has more gunk build-up in it that will eventually cause a repeat occurance.
