My '91 80 series has a leak from the throttle shaft on top of the pump.
Just want to know if I'm up for a rebuild or is there a simple fix for it. =============
Top cover can be done, from memory I think it was around the $160 mark a couple a years ago. =============
na mate it should only be 150 -220 max the top cover is leaking thats all no pump rebuild but if you dont get it fixed it will cuase other problems meaning a pumprebuild then u start spending$$$$$ =============
Cool, thanks for the info fellas. =============
if ya handy you can change it yaself. i done 1 when i was within my first 4 weeks of my apprentiship. get a top cover seal aswell while your at it. its just a square section rubber real. chances are that seal is as close to stuffed as the o-ring. just make sure when you do it, you mark where your throttle is on the spline. and when you put it all back together, dont loose the spring and the little T shape pin that tentions the governor! they fall out easy and are small. also, try not to bend the governor on the adjustong screw. just get a thin screwdriver and push it out of the way when sitting the lid back on.
iv actually heard that a stuffed pump can cause thease seals to leak from pressurising the housing. hopefully yous is just normal wear and tare. if it leaks after you put the seals in, i suggest you go see your local diesel place. =============

Scrawns80,
How did you go with fixing the IP leak?
I have a '93 80 series and it is also leaking from the top of the IP.
I'm pretty handy with mechanical things and would like to know just how difficult it was to replace the top O ring plus cover seal (as Bainsy mentioned).
Can you or anyone else advise your thoughts?
Cheers, Dandy =============
I had mine fixed at toyota 2years ago, same deal as bainsybainsy explained. they quoted me $85 and thats what was paid, changed O ring and cover seal, took him half an hour.
It looked quite easy, I would do my own next time. =============
