During normal everyday driving the suspension on my Prado is fine however when I put the camper trailer on (about 850kgs loaded) the rear sags very noticeably. The vehicle has OME shocks front and rear which I think have done around 90,000klms. Is the sagging rear likely to only be the shocks? I was thinking of upgrading to a heavier duty shock. I like OME shocks after having them on 2 vehicles but I was also going to price up the TJM XGS shocks to compare. Does this sound like the most simple solution?
Thanks heaps =============
I'm no expert but I reckon yoiu are right about the shocks.
The best idea would be to see a few suspension shops a get a professional opinion. Or maybe ask some online advice from suspensionstuff.com.au - they advertise on this site

Mate your rear end sagg hasothing to do with the shocks.
The springs are the problem .
Replacement springs are $150

hi guys thanks for the advice, I went to a few 4wd places today and they all recommended changing the springs. I am looking at a Polyair system now so that I can adjust the settings depending on what I am towing. Thanks =============
shows how much I know??????? :crazy::crazy: =============
Mate,
I had the same issue so i got on here and asked the question months ago.
Advice was to source a set of 80 series front coils.
I did it fitted them and hey presto three to four inches of liftwhich settled down and now she sits great, levelled out with the two inches in the front no matter whats in the back
cheap option and worth a try to sart with as there are a lot of old 80 series stoick springs out there.
mate of mine had a set to give away
let me know how you go

Hi devil42, it didn't even occur to me to do something so simple!! I might have to do a little more research before I spend on the polyairs (around the $450-$550 mark)
Thanks =============
By fitting heavier springs you will comprimise your ride comfort when empty. I would fit some airbags in the rear coils so you can have the best of both worlds. =============
