OK, i know the back tires have to go to the front and front go to the back, each tire remaining on the original side of the car. I have two jackstand and a floor jack. What's the best way to rotate these? obviously i'd have to get one whole side of the car up off the ground. An idea (perhaps bad) that came across my mind was lifting the front with the floor jack, putting stands on each side of the front (at the appropriate jack points of course), then lifing the back at the diff. But having the entire car lifted on just 3 somewhat unsteady points seem dangerous. Any better ideas besides taking it to a shop? =============
You can rotate the spare tire in and out.
Spare -> LF -> LR -> LF (replacing Spare)
Spare -> RF -> RR -> RF (replacing Spare) =============
spend 20 bucks and get another pair of jack stands. i beleivve ur spare is a donut, so do not include that in teh rotation, just check to make sure it is still at the appropriate pressure.
or just jack one side of teh car up at a time. left then right. =============
If your jack has enough vertical lift, you can get both tires off the ground on one side of the car when using the front side jacking point. Be sure to chock one of the wheels on the opposite side of the car, loosen the lugs on both wheels on the side to be lifted, and be easy on retorquing after rotation so as to not cause excessive rocking of the car. =============
The stock jack will lift the both front and rear when placed at the front jacking point.
That's how I change tires at the track. =============
front jacking point will lift the whole side of the car off the ground....problem solved. =============
