18 or 17 are perfect for a Subie wouldn't recommend going bigger on wheels (rims are for bicycles, wheels for cars or trucks). Whats your plan? Hopefully not 20's or higher. Also Subies don't like being slammed these are not Hondas. Dont ruin our community but hey it's your choice and your ride.

the popular setup on a bugeye is a 17x8 or 18x8 wheel with 235/40 tires. You CAN fit larger 17/18x8.5 with some serious camber and fender work.

I would say get you fenders rolled, and maybe pulled. Buy a set of 17/18 x9 and put some 255's on um

you could do 18x with a 245/40

That might rub a bit, but as I said get your fenders rolled and it should tae car of most of the problems

I would try to find a 8.5 inch wide rim if I were you
