What are the largest diameter wheels that can fit a 2005 STI? I'm looking to do 18"x8.5" (17"x8" is stock).
Then, I want to put on a wider tire... but still keep the overall tire "diameter" the same with a lower profile tire.
Any suggestions? =============
This is assuming no rubbing issues..... =============
that shouldn't be a problem.
If you wanted to roll the rears you could fit a 18x9.5 with a 255/35 assuming your car isnt slammed and has a bit on camber. Some people seem to be able to fit these with no fender mods at all, and some need some help =============
i have 18x8.5 +48 with 255/35/18s on my 04 with rce yellows and no problems. a slight rear fender roll was all i needed. clearance with the strut is about 1-2mm at most though :) =============
I have 18"x8.5 with a 245 tire on my 04 sti....it rubs when i take corners in the rear only if i have 3 ppl sitting in the back. other than that its great =============

Just so you dont become anymore confused...........stock sti rims are 17x7.5 NOT 17x8 =============

I'm not so sure.... I was told they are 17x8 for the 2005 model year. =============
2004 STi has 17x7?
2005+ STi has 17x8.
My 2004 STi is running 17x8?with 245/40-17. =============
:disco: =============
Anyone know if you can fit a 235 series without rubbing? Looking at 235/40/18 Dunlop Direzza Star Specs, just want to be sure I won't have any rubbing issues before I buy the tires. =============
I just got back from a track day. Guys with Sti's are running 275's. Wow, did that look good. Are they using special deep dish wheels to fit? =============
on a 18x8.5 rim with a mild offset, you'll do just fine with a 235 or 245 tire. =============

How can you go wider than 245, without a lot of major surgery? =============
do you need anything larger than 245? =============
Yes....... for the track. I have 225's now and they seem grossly inadequate. Some of the Evo and STi guys are running 275 and 285's. I know. . . . way to large for my needs.... BUT, I'd like to get MORE than 245. =============

Nice. I think I saw something like that downtown last week. =============
I run an 18x9 with 265/35/18 rubber and dont rub, with minor modifications. =============
what's your suspension setup?
what are your alignment settings?
Those two factors significantly determine what size you can run. =============
