Not sure if this is a coincidence or not... Ever since I installed my unichip, my car has been acting a bit strange.

overall, I'm quite pleased with the upgrade. Much smoother... no hesitation... definitely noticeable power gain. Thing is... when I punch the gas, the engine revs almost as if it's in nuetral (meanwhile, the car barely accelerates). My boost gauge isn't hooked up (waiting for the yeller dual guage bezel since I've got a double-din nav where my gauges used to be)... pretty sure it's boosting higher than normal though.

long story short... in order to get the most acceleration possible, I have to take it easy on the gas (press it maybe 1/3 of the way down)... otherwise, it's just too much...

I've got about 65k miles on my car. seems like my clutch is ok... no grinding or anything but who knows? anyone have any clue what might be the problem here?
=============
Sounds like your clutch is slippin'
=============
yeah... I thought of that too. with the exception of a POS 84 dodge colt (that barely ran) this is the first stick I've owned. I'm not sure how long the clutch lasts on these but I suppose I could be do. After doing some research, it seemed like its demise would be preceded by a lot of grinding... Figured that, since I'm not experiencing this... that might not be the prob.

I almost want to uninstall the unichip to see if the problem exists in stock form. would be a strange coincidence if my clutch started slippin around the same time I installed this thing.
=============
Nah...clutch slippage doesn't involve grinding. Grinding is your tranny gears..usually messed up synchros. Look, your up there at 63k and you've been making more and more power so it only makes sense. I'd put money on the problem being your clutch....so take it easy for now and save up for a exedy stage 1 clutch. While your there change your flywheel for a lightweight Fidanza. Goodluck!
=============
How long do you think I've got left? I rarely ever beat on this car... never even peeled out! but I guess if I'm due... I'm due. all part of owning a car that's up there in miles... I guess.

btw... what's so great about that clutch? wouldn't I be better off just getting it replaced with a stocker? probably cheaper...
=============
alright... just went on **********'s website and found the clutch & flywheel. pricing isn't as bad as I thought... all together I'm looking at about $800

Anyone know approximately how much it will cost to have these installed? I'm going to call for some pricing tomorrow... just want to know what to shoot for so I don't get ripped.
=============
Soon but you got time if you say it's only when you punch it...and the exedy stage 1 because it's a step up (handles more torque) without killing your leg.

Try Crossoverauto.com...they have a combo price(clutch&Fidanza) that is interesting. Labour...ya shop around. I'm guessing it's a 5-6 hour job...so ask there hourly rate and that will give you a close guess.

thanks dude

i might be having the same problem!!mines boosts past 10psi and it feels like its stationary and if i press down on the pedal slightly it feels like it picks up better,hopefully thats the problem with mine as ive been clueless for a while now!!!
=============
Is the problem worse in 4th/5th gear?
