hey, this might be in the wrong section but here it goes. I just bought a AFC and i went to install it and i must say the install was a breeze went real smooth but when i was suppose to cut the 02 sensor wire i was like well I'm running a open down pipe with no cats or bung for a sensor so i went on and was like i hope it will be alright with out a sensor but went a head and cut the wire like the instructions said to well my car runs like crap. i talked to ken from protég?garage and he said that the car HAS to have a signal from the 02 sensor and what I'm wanting to know is if i can tap into the signal coming from the 02 sensor on the exhaust Mani? would this work and if it would what wire is this? =============
bump =============
Yes, the AFC has to be tapped into the primary O2 sensor - that is the one, along with the MAF that controlls the cars fuel curve. The second O2 sensor only does emissions related stuff. I would say go back in and tap/cut into the correct wire and everything should be good. The AFC has to be able to intercept and alter signals coming from both the primary O2 sensor and the MAF to work properly. =============
ok well the primary is the one on the exhaust mani right? i spliced into the wire the instructions said...? which sensor do they ask you to splice into? =============
ok man i fixed it lol thanks =============
ok man i fixed it lol thanks
glad you got it hooked up, how is the car running? =============
strong all the way to redline.... =============
I really need to install mine... I'm still a little afraid of what the results could be though. =============
dude the install is super easy what was wrong with it was the things he used to install it did not connect great to the ones i had so i just replaced them with the ones i bought and it fixed it.... now i could do a install in like 30 min =============

Oh I'm not doubting the ease of install. The hard part for me is finding time to install it and I'm just afraid of blowing my motor. I'm running a relocated MAF and I read that some people had problems with this. I just don't have the time right now to spend hours trying to get a decent driveable tune out of it. =============
