I bought a cobb accessport about a month ago and i am currently running stage 2, i love it to death. But i want to get a protune and a local protuner is telling me it will cost around 400+. I recently have been talking to another tuner upstate Moonperformance that does open ecu tuning and says he can get around the same results with a safer tune for $300. He says if i ever decide to upgrade turbos i will be able to with open ecu, but i only can run one map at a time. I dont plan on running race fuel or anything with my Ap anyways so my question is do i keep my Ap or do i sell it for 650 dollars and go get an open ecu tune? Thanks

Having done this, I say sell the AP and go with OpenSource. If you don't plan on switching maps all the time then a OpenSource tune is definitely worth it.
However your tuners claim of it being same results and safer are ill fated, both systems are reflashes and tuned equally neither is safer than the other. =============
ok so maybe he ment he would do more conservative tune. I def should have done more research before buying that ap for 695 o well live and learn. Thnaks for the info Master2192 anyone elsee know anything? =============
With OpenSource stuff you either have to tune it yourself or find a tuner that could/would use the software. Since you have a tuner close by that uses OpenSource I don't see why you shouldn't go that route, assuming that both tuners are capable.
I used to have the AP for my '06 WRX but have switched to self tune using Enginuity. Sold the AP and bought a WB and KnockLite instead. =============
or you can download / buy the stage maps from http://www.osecuroms.org =============
You may want to call PDXtunning for a stg2 Map. These maps are a bit more aggressive and smooth from what i hear. They can also make you a map for your AP if your able to email or send them the data logs.
Just a thought =============
I sold my AP and now tune myself with Enginuity. I don't regret selling the AP for a second.
Tuning is not that hard, but it does take some research and patience. Many of the more experienced guys here are awesome and will give you a helping hand during the process.
