how get accurate baseline dyno run aftermarket boost control solenoid

Position: Home >> CarCare >> Engine >> Text ¡¡
Since the car won't run properly with an aftermarket boost control solenoid installed how did you guys get an accurate baseline reading prior to getting tuned with the new boost control solenoid?

Did you do a baseline run with the stock boost control solenoid in place, then connect the aftermarket boost control solenoid and then start the tune session?
=============
anyone out there have any experience with this and would like to share?
=============
well a baseline is a baseline, as you start adding parts, it's not baseline anymore...what am I missing here?
=============
from what i understand...the car will not run properly with an aftermarket boost control solenoid until it has been tuned for it.

maybe i'm not being clear...i would like to see what my car puts down on the dyno before the tune and the new bcs...then i'd like to see what my car puts down after the tune w/the new bcs.

am i supposed to have the stock bcs hooked up for the initial dyno pulls and then hook up the new bcs, get tuned, and then do the final dyno pull to see what gains i get?
=============
Well of course, I guess. I don't see this is any different that running a baseline before installing an aftermarket downpipe or something.

Get some quick disconnect plugs from Radio Shack and you can leave both solenoids in the car. Just swap the electrical and vacuum lines over. This adds 1 minute to the install to crimp in the quick disconnect plugs. Depending on your solenoid (I assume some sort of 3 port), you'll need extra vacuum lines.

Who is tuning it? It sounds like you're paying someone else to tune it. I'm sure they could help you out. Having the wiring and extra vacuum line ready to go makes a lot of sense when you're paying god knows what an hour for both the tuning service and dyno fees. Get the wire soldering, crimping, and hose layout done before hand.
=============
yes...it seems like it would be resonable to ask the tuner to just switch the hoses over to the new bcs.

clark turner is tuning the car...i joined the tune session that is going on next week at dynamic autosport in socal.
