I would like to use both UTEC (for map switching) and OpenECU (for base parameter tuning) on my 04 STi. I have td0618g, txs tbe (catted 3"), Typhoon intake, CoolingMist Stage 2 injection (50-50), GMBCS, etc.
I am honing in on a decent (at least I think) UTEC fuel/boost map, still running conservative timing. I have a couple questions:
1) Is it possible to log through the ODB2 port while running the UTEC? Or will the values all represent the UTEC offsets?
2) Is it possible to log through the ODB2 port if the UTEC is set to the 0 position (stock)?
3) Is anybody else running the UTEC/OpenECU combo? I expect so, but would like some feedback. =============
I just did this yesterday.
Yes you can log through the OBDII port however certain values will be incorrect depending on the tuning in your UTEC. I actually started off from a OpenSource Stage 2 reflash and a fresh UTEC map. MAF values in the OBDII as well as timing and fuel were all the ECU at this point, except boost would not show what it actually was.
We then turned up the boost and verified that it wasn't knocking, and then I started adding some timing in the higher load areas since the Stage 2 map I reflashed was 91 octane but we were running 94+. Picked up alot of torque and lowered the EGTs by almost 200*. If the owner ever has to run lower octane he can set the map to Zero and boost will drop down to 16psi and run ecu fuel and timing.
Pretty much, it is the best combination you can get short of a standalone EMS system. Depends on your UTEC setup but on this car I tuned the only value that was wrong was the boost in OBDII logging. =============
