I would like to buy a computer laptop soley for my car. It doesn't have to do anything fancy I would just like to data log and have obdII software and run Emanage Ultimate on it. What would be the minimum requirements of it having? Would those 2-3 hundred dollor laptops on Ebay cut it? =============
Go to CC and look for the cheapest open box unit they have from last season. Most CCs have a ton of open box computers and some are missing some really dumb stuff that you won't miss and makes them sell them a dirt cheap prices. For what you are planning to use it for you should be more than happy.
I did this last year and got a 13 X 12 inch Averatech laptop with XP, 512RAM, Firewire, USB X 3, DVD, SD card slot, and wireless for about $300 after tax. The thing will even fit in my glovebox. =============
Where is CC? Is it a website? What specifications would it have to meet? This is for all you computer geeks out there. Am I looking for X amnt of RAM or should it be at least windows 98? Stuff like that. =============
circuit city I think? =============
yes CC circuit city... or any electronics store for that matter. if you can get a open box special for a couple hundred that would be a steal, because it would be pretty much guaranteed to have all the latest software, RAM etc you would need.
if you can't find one of those, i'm sure one of the ebay cheapos will do. you don't need much to datalog. sry i don't know specifics. =============
Sorry. Yes CC = Circuit City. =============
used/ebay laptops often need a battery, which may cost another $100 to $200 on top of that. a laptop for logging isn't much use without it! =============
