mecp 12v installer...but I've never wired an ECU before... do I basicly just "vampire" tap into the stock wires?(yes I'm going to solder) are there any harness adapters I can buy so I don't have to butcher my stock wiring?

No harness adapters that I know of, you are pretty much going to have to butcher your stock wiring. The E-manage doesn't just vampire tap onto wires, you actually cut them and use some connectors to run the wires through the e-manage but making sure that if you were to disconnect the e-manage you could hook the wires back together easily with the connectors they provide.

Pretty much I am saying read the manual very carefully several times and also make sure you know which wires you are cutting or tapping onto. I would spend a day and take my time to do it right so you don't have to redo it later.

O goody.....looks like I am definatly going to invest in a harness though. I refuse to cut my stocker. Even though I will have this car till the day I die...do you know how long it takes to replace an entire harness!???

I have a wiring diagram spreadsheet for wiring it into my 99 Legacy GT. It may be a little different then your Impreza.

Speaking of instruction manual, mine came in only Japanese with a little English here and there. Is yours in English?

www.boomslang.com can custom make you a plug and play harness it is well worth it I did the wiring myself and there is alot of wires the most I ever seen in a wiring harness. Oh by the way you are gonna love the ultimate I hated it at first until I understood it more big improvement from blue
