deoxidizing old looking paint

My 03 aspen white WRX has 45k miles on the clock. I put a full body kit on it at around 40k miles that was freshly painted aspen white. Here is the problem....there is a very noticable difference between fresh aspen white and 40k miles old aspen white.

I realize that this was probably a stupid thing of me to do, but I was wondering if there is anything I can do about it now. i.e. some type of product that might remove some of the "oldness" of my original paint.

I know that clay bar-ing might help, but I've tried clay baring certain adjacent sections to the body kit and it doesn't really help at all. What can I do?

Anybody? Thanks

search www.Meguiarsonline.com or www.autopia.org

you can also see results from my wife's neglected Range Rover if you search for "Quack" on the meguiars site

hmm thanks...anything more specific there? or are you suggesting just reading and learning on the forums there

Well, the only thing you can do is polish the orginal paint with a light polish to bring back gloss ( Quack listed a good method and the products can be found locally at pep-boys and wal-mart). I recommend you go to autopia and find a professonial detailer in your area to help you if you do not have a good idea of how to polish paint. The claybar will not help, it will just make the paint slick by removing the fallout and brake dust embedded in the paint.

If the detailing does not fix the problem, you should get the kit repainted to the shade of white on the rest of your car. White is a pain to match so use a quality paintshop if you do.

hope this helps

i'd claybar to get the surface smooth (and free from contaminants), then (meguiar's) #83 (Dual Action Cleaner/Polish), followed by #82 swirl-free polish, then wax (2 coats).

thanks very much for the suggestions guys..

Check out www.mothers.com ....and look at their Detail Guide. Or you can email info@mothers.com with inquiries. :D

Do the Meguiars three step process (deep clean, polish, wax). It brought the paint of a 9 year old Integra belonging to my sister back to life.

clay bar, then polish... My white 00rs was never so white. It may be enough to close the margin on your fresh and old parts.

Mother's rocks Meguiars...

also - white is a difficult color to match perfectly - so the difference which you see might be due to color variations in the paint.
