You don't have to get it at your dealer. Kmart/Walmart/Target probably has it as well.
It works OK. It really is nothing more than a soft squeegy. I use it to get the bulk of water off my car. Then I go over it with a terry cloth to get it truly dry. =============
Buy it you'll love it.
Takes no time at all to dry your car.
I've owned mine for at least 5 years and it's still working great! =============
thanks guys
there was also something called The Absorber.. would this be good to finish it off with? =============
absorber = absorbs dirt/particles
thus you will be scratching your paint
Dry car off with microfiber towels - CLEAN microfiber towels
re:
california blade - i just save and re-use old wiper blades

I love mine! Highly recomended. =============
The California water blade is great. I bought mine at Walmart. Use it to sweep off most of the water than dry the rest with microfiber towels. =============
I would get it. My sister (who is a vol. firefighter) had house duty a couple of weeks ago. She had to check all the trucks as far as if all the equipment is in the right spots, tire pressue, etc. Anyway, she and I decided to wash the trucks, after washing them (2 fire engines, a pick up truck, and a tanker )we dried quickly and easily. I was impressed with the great job it did as well as how quickly it took. =============
hmm..DOES this REALLY NOT leave scratches on your paint? It seems like it would. :( I still use my leaf blower to dry my car but for times when electricity is not available, this thing may be good. =============
The first time I used mine on the WRX, it grabbed a tiny speck of grit and dragged a scratch all the way down the center of my hood.
I had to break out the porter-cable buffer to get the scratch out.
I've never used it since. Except on my wife's company Taurus. =============
The Absorber is washable. If you keep it clean, it won't scratch. While a Microfiber is good too, it won't absorb as much water. And they'll scratch if dirty, just like anything else. =============
I tossed my Abosorber out...
now use only microfiber towels
article of interest ;)

Microfiber Towels
Microfiber towels are a recent development and have gained quick acceptance amongst both professional and amateur detailers.
As their name implies, Microfiber towels are made up of extremely fine fibers about 100 times smaller than human hair. They feature soft surfaces that accommodate the "avoid scratches at all costs" mantra of a quality detailing job. Unlike cotton, which is a natural fabric, Microfiber is synthetically manufactured using two basic fibers, Polyester and Polyamide. Microfiber towels used for drying are "split", a process which allows them to "hook" up dirt and other undesireable items, giving them their cleaning properties. The same splitting process gives microfiber towels their water absorbant characteristics. They are excellent for drying a car after a washing session and can absorb seven times their weight in water.
thus, why i switched to microfiber towels :D

I use the turtle wax blade. Its the same idea, only half the cost. Works great. Doesnt really dry that well around bumpers, but a quick blast around the block solves that problem. =============
I got a california water blade, use it everytime I wash my car, just use it to get the majority of it off, and some microfiber towels to get the rest off..
I'm going to get some microfiber towels when it gets warmer.. =============
I had a California Water Blade before I bought the Mr. Clean AutoDry. Now it is collecting dust in the garage. The CWB works great if you are not a fan of the Mr. Clean. They are just different methods of achieving the same result. =============
^^^ ditto =============
I love the cali bade, it works perfectly and whatever you miss hit over with a towel. Some people I have heard complain bout scratches, none here though.

Yeah, just be sure to wipe the blade every once in a while to get off small particles that stick to it. I carry around a towel and I just wipe the blade off to get off excess water and loose particles. =============

I've thought about doing this before, but imagined the looks I would get from the neighbors... =============

Same for me....loved the water blade, works great except in areas around the lettering/badges....you can get that with a towel...now I use the Mr Clean and the CWB is just collecting dust on my shelf...it never left any scratches that I could see, btw... =============
i absolutley love mine. I hate dragging a chamois over my car, so i use the water blade, then get the left overs with an Absorber. Got both at Advanced Auto Parts..
My car is silver though, so scratches are not easily noticed.. And worrying about not getting scratches on Suby paint would drive you mad.. =============
water blade with the blower from my shop vac is great.

there's no way........  =============

it works really well esp. for black cars! Leaf blowers work too. =============
Jamie says: "absorber = absorbs dirt/particles

Article Jamie cites says: "Microfiber towels used for drying are "split", a process which allows them to "hook" up dirt and other undesireable items, giving them their cleaning properties. The same splitting process gives microfiber towels their water absorbant characteristics."
Um, poor argument?
Anyway, lets find a nice in-between and suggest that whatever you use to dry your car is something soft, absorbant, and CLEAN. =============

Yeah everytime I wash my car (like today) I get so depressed. I always find a few damn chips, swirl marks, and scratches. :furious: But I still love the black.. Wouldn't trade it for anything else. =============
