year old tree sap HELP

Position: Home >> CarCare >> Care >> ÕýÎÄ ¡¡
I purchased a use Subaru WRX yesterday. The car is an ?2 and the owner claims the marks on the hood are from 4 year old tree sap. The hood has the highest concentration with the fenders also having a mark or two. I imagine these can’t be helped at this point, and the paint is just damaged beyond repair, but I figured I would at least ask if anyone had any opinions on how I could attempt to repair this.

The car is platinum silver metallic (silver) and the sap marks are a white color. The paint feels slightly raised where the sap is and rough compared to the normal paint. Is there anything I can do to fix these?

Thanks in advance!

clay bar?
=============
^ you really think that would help? i cant even pick at it with my nail
=============
is it rough to the touch ? find a spot that is the least obvious to see and scrub it with a pencil eraser and report back
=============
rubbing alcohol. seriously

we have cottonwood trees around here and that is the cure for the nastiness they put out

clean it off with rubbing alcohol

THEN clay bar
THEN wax & polish

as the damage is so old, some effects of the damage will remain
but this will help I am sure.

rubbing alcohol is a good idea, you can also try Goo gone that stuff works wonders.

+1 for goo gone and goof off. That stuff is amazing!
=============
^ill try both as soon as it warms a bit!

I have that same type of thing on my car...ITs really tough to get off. I used the PC with adams swirls and haze remover, which helped but did not completly fix it
