so I was pumping gas, the pump didn't auto-stop and it overflowed all over my rear fender. I washed it at the car wash (brushless automatic) but I can still see some residue (can also still see some salt/dirt around the bumper, waste of $11!)
does gasoline eat paint like diesel does? =============
It'll be fine, just rewax it since the gas took all the protectant off. Thats really weird that happen to my subaru, twice. Both time while I was refilling out of town at two different stations. It never happens here at my home town and I've tried 6 different pumps. =============
I was really pissed because the attendant wasn't even at the register when I had to go in to 1) complain and 2) get my receipt (since the pump was also out of receipt paper)
then he was all *******y about it and said "okay... what do you expect me to do about it?" =============
I hate using old style pumps that always happens to me when I use them. =============
You have to watch the Sam's Club on VA Beach Boulevard too. They'll let a pump stay in use even though it's spilling gas all over the place (had that happen before I got my Outback). When I went to get the attendant she handed me a bottle of water to was the gas off my clothes and told me "it's been doing that." I had to go in and get the manager before they would close the pump down. =============
it really depends how long the gas stayed on the car. Based on the evaporation rate of gas it shouldn't have been on for more than a few seconds. The worst you probably did is remove the wax from the car. Just put a new coat of wax on it and you should be fine. =============
