I'm going to have a car repainted (paint then clear coat). Someone once told me to wait 30 days before waxing (or appying a Clear Bra) to let it "cure"/let gasses escape. But the shop painting it says they bake their cars and I can wax it right away - but mostly I want to get the Clear Bra on.
Who is right? Wait 30 days, wax right away (or install clear bra)?
I know that the guy painting it should have the right answer, but now I've hear 2 different answer.
Help a gal out? =============
doesn't matter if it is baked. clear coat isn't fully cured right away, even when baked.
you dont need to wax it right away anyways, 30 days sounds about right. no big rush to wax right away anyways =============
I was told some products can take as long as 6 months to fully harden. This is coming from the person at the paint store while they were handing the clear to my brother when we painted his nova. Maybe it depends on the product but I trusted what she said =============
clearcoat can take a pressure washer to it after its been baked at 120 F for approx 1 hr.
its not fully cured yet then. but from what i remember, it can take approx up to 6 months. im not 100% on that though =============
i have been painting cars for along time. and i always baked them and after i sand and buff, i use hand glaze. but its not wax. new paint looks good anyways for a while..but yah, a few weeks after you get it painted your good. i have never had a problem.

i work at a bodyshop and the paint manufacter says wait 30 days in order to let the vapors leave the paint if not potential for solvent pop,imagine a steak cooking from the outside in is an analogy that i use =============
Body shop told me 6 weeks. =============
