Can you explain what was done here a little bit
=============
Excellent job. What did you use for the engine bay?

I wash the engine (cool) by spraying P21S Autowash (degreaser/all purpose)
I let it sit while I prep the rest of the car, wheels, pre soak, etc.

Then I go back and agitate the dirt if it's really dirty.

Then with a good pressure washer or firehose nozzle (good pressure is key) I rinse down the engine and lastly I dress it up with Adam's VRT or Adam's In and Out Spray.

Products for the Engine Bay:
P21S Autowash:

Boar's Hair Brush:

Adam's In and out spray (dressing)

Either a good pressure washer or a Firehose nozzle:

After the wash and clay I guess to show the customer and everyone the paint correction I taped up the trunk so you can see the before and after shots.

Using a Makita (hi speed polisher and a white Lake Country Pad) with Menzerna 106 I went ahead and corrected the paint by polishing out all the defects.

Using the 3M Sun Gun I went ahead and checked the work to see how much more I had to correct /polish out or if I was finally done.
=============
wow..phenomenal job, how much was that as a whole?

Looks good as usual. Im very impressed by Einszett as well as all of the adams products that you use. I had never seen a good job done using adams products until I saw your work. What do you think about all the poorboys products, wheel sealent degreaser pre soak and spray/ rinse or spray/ gloss. Ive been throuroughly impressed by them.

Really Einszett and Adam's is about the easiest products out there to use. I'm surprised you say that...as for PB the wheel sealant is good. I don't like the degreaser I would stick with p21s auto wash. never used the spray and gloss.

Nice turn around. Intercooler looks like it could use a little scrubbing on the bottom.
=============
is it safe to spray down the engine bay with just a fire hose when you have that short ram intake? i have the same K&N typhoon i would not like my car getting any water damage inside the engine. let me know. thanks

Simon,

I covered it with a mf towel so no water would get on it.

I threw in the engine so I wasn't going to go crazy on it. Still spent about 8 hours on the whole job.
=============
I don't think it would have taken more then 5 minutes to hit it with a AP, a little brush and wipe it down. What's 5 more minutes on a 8 hour job, and it stands out quite a bit....

You need to live in the MAIC.

Nice work!

nice job man
=============
does anything exist that'll prevent all that dust from building up on the steering column/dash? or do i need to vacuum the interior once/month?

is there a good cleaner for interior parts that won't cause a shine (and tons of glare on the windshield) when they're used? sorry if this is answered elsewhere.
=============
just wondering, but in the pics.. are those swirls/scratches considered "light" or "severe" ?
=============
I would say medium. But you guys are lucky STI's have forgiving paint its fairly easy to work with and correct.
=============
so what exactly did you do to your exhaust to make it all shiny?
thanks
=============
WHat are your impressions of the p21s autowash? I have yet to use it.. is it citrus based? does it strip wax/sealants?
=============
I've been using P21S auto wash on my details for over 15 years. Yes it will strip some if not all your wax and sealants.

I use them to clean tires, wheel wells, engines, bug and tar etc.
=============
very nice!!

:( = 195 mi – about 3 hours 26 mins away from me.
=============
very nice work.
detailing goes a looong way. It does more than just make it look good.

I fell for the classics of detailing:
carnuba after
simple lightweight grease remover (safe for body) after regular dish soap...can't forget the basic armor all protect. (my dash is factory poop brown, twenty years old..and no cracks.It really works.

and no excuses to fear "little jenny" the 1956 jet engine turbine sounding 8million psi steam cleaner with some truck stop "Bombs Away" every chemical killer...
the car in photo wasn't even a challenge..jees. Looks very good even with oem fuji crap paint. :)
=============
Outstanding job! It is great to work of that quality.
=============
thanks!
=============
How often would a job like that be necessary?

What can an owner do to preserve the results?

(I'm an utter noob at keeping a nice car nice--I know to wash it with something mild and wax it with something non-abrasive, but that's about it.)
=============
maybe once a year or once in its lifetime.

you said it if you can take care of it after a huge detail like this you will be able to keep it looking like this for the life of the car... :)

Let me know if you have more questions.
=============
That positest DFT thing is cool! I saw it and thought 'That'd be cool as another gadget in the toolbox'. But it's a little more than that, spendy little bugger!
=============
yes it is a great tool
=============
what can you use to get the exhaust carbon off the bottom of the bumper? I tried clay bar and it wasn't enough.
=============
I used clay bar and was on that small spot for about 15 minutes. what I couldn't remove I went over with some polish and a machine like the PC.

tell me about it, My bumpers kinda burnt from it, I busted out the orange pad and sip on it and followed through with 106 on the white. Before this I clayed with mothers clay and was clearly making no progress.
