Well, ok, it isn't a huge mistake really. I used the Turtle Wax buff paste and polish paste (orange and green respectively) about 2 months ago to get rid of road tar spots and some scratches I had developed over the last 1.5 years. I finished up with Meguires Nutech wax. Unfortunately, I didn't do something right in my 3 step process and anywhere I used the buffing paste, I have millions of small scratches, even after a thorough waxing and buffing :(

What did I do wrong, and how do I fix it? :(

Any polish you use is an abrasive. A polish with more bite is usually used to remove larger scratches, however it will introduce some marring to surrounding surfaces as well. That's what a finer grit polish will remove. Eventually, with finer and finer polishes, you wind up with a nice mirror finish, or something good enough to live with.

The problem with doing it by hand is that it's very tedious to do, and it will wear you out fast! Also, many polished don't really start to work properly until you build up some heat, like you would with a machine polisher, such as a dual-action or orbital buffer.

I wouldn't worry too much. It's easy to correct, but it's a lot of work. Might be worth it to you to have a pro detailer polish it up.

Get a porter cable and some polish...polish the car. Thats what I did and it came out great

I did it by hand since the orbital I have has a pad too wide for some of the areas. I feel I may have applied to much pressure to the areas I am having issues with, hence the scrathes.

Mind I ask what a porter cable is? I'm at work so searching for info is hard since 99.5% of the internet is blocked.

i did the same thing to one part of my car, but i only used that green tub pictured above....i have yet to fix the problem but it doesnt look that bad once i wax it with a few coats of turtle.

You will have to polish it out, preferably with a PC. Basically by compounding you put more tiny scratches on it, what you are using like the wax is filling in all the scratches so after a couple months or weeks or even days the fillers will disappear, if you want to do it right bring it to a detailer that does paint correction. Or get a PC and polish out the scratches with some good polish like Menzerna.

Just throwing it out there, but maybe the pad you used had a small rock on it? Did you set it on the ground in between panels?

I'll get the PC then. Thanks for the help guys. I guess I didn't give enough time to polishing (I was rushed towards the end) so it was my fault. I thought it would involve less time for the polish, and then the Wax sort of covered it up. Menzerna....I'll look into it.

Menzernas good stuff, order 3 of each white/ orange pads menzerna sip and there 106 use the sip on the orange 106 on white and either get a pc or flex, then cover in your choice of wax and your golden. Or get detailers domain to build you a package, they sell a full menzerna polish kit thats good stuff. Just ask detailers domain any questions you have they know their **** and are damn good, they also carry anything you need.

use a cutting compound then polish
that should do the trick.
