the brake light has ceased to light up when the front brake is applied - rear is still working....how is this fixed? =============
If it still works with the rear brake, the bulb (and associated wiring) is OK. So it must be the front brake switch. Or the wires to or from it. Usually (not always) a little microswitch built into the front brake lever/reservoir.
Should be a couple of wires (maybe in one conduity thing) disappear into your front brake lever area. Poke around there, try squirting CRC around , look for broken or missing bits. If you have a multimeter and know how to use it, basic continuity tests. Have you checked the fuses , but? =============
Yeah no fuses blown...I figured it would be something to do with the front break switch, and the haynes manual shows you how to test it with jumper cables etc......so I spose I could give it a go at some point.... =============
i can come round and have a look at it for you some time mate? =============
haha - the problem was me being moronic - and also the connecters hanging out of the switch....aaaahem =============
ok nope - it is plugged in.... =============
Bridge the wires with a paper clip,if the light goes you've just isolated it to the switch. =============
Good idea - will try that now. :) Cheers

mine didnt work on my MC22 when I got it, drowned it in CRC Contact cleaner and it fixed it.
Else PM kk he can get you one for cheap =============
well my paper clip test has localised the problem to the switch - whether it is an internal issue or the contacts - I am not sure yet...I'll try some contact cleaner. =============
Open it up. They're often corroded. Pretty cheap to replace from a wreckers too. =============

Got quoted 35 bucks for one from a wrecker when they are 15 odd new!!! =============
hahah - where can you get them new? I'll open mine up tonight - i have it soaking in crc atm =============

ummmm not sure...... =============
Yeah I had this, narrowed it down to the switch by putting power to the wires that plug into the switch (glad to see Hayne's like that idea!) and then I just broke into the switch, gave the contacts a quick sand and away I went.
Badgers. =============
Ok i've broken into the switch and I am soaking the mechanism in CRC - then i''ll give them a little sand - the small connecting piece had so much oxidisation that it's no wonder the switch wasn't working =============
Sweet, working now - soaked in CRC then sanded the contacts - works perfect now..too easy =============
