Hi
I wonder if someone could help. basically i have decided on a company name for my new business, but it is already registered in northern ireland. The name is Kings Hill estates ltd. What i would like to know if it was possible to still register kings hill estates (uk) ltd and trade as kings hill estates, but make sure i unclude the (uk) bit on my letter heads etc..???
Also im looking at using a online business agent to register the business, any recommendations?? Will they do all the work, i.e notifying inland revenue etc...??
thanks =============
Hi,
Yes you can register the company name, but you would need to ensure that you are not infringing on any trademarks or rights that the Irish company may have over the UK. A search on the Patent website will do a basic check for this for you.
The word KINGS is a sensitive word which you will need to get clearance for, by writing to the Office of Constitutional Affairs who will supply a letter of Non-Objection to the use of the word.
To answer your last sentence, yes online agents such as my company do most of this for you, but you will need to get the letter of non-objection.
I'm going to assume you are based in England, so you would write to;
Grant Bavister
Dept. for Constitutional Affairs
Constitutional Policy Devision
6th Floor Selbourne House
54 Victoria Street
London
SW1E 6QW
We had a client yesterday forming a company for a pub called The Kings Head, and on checking with Companies House he still needed to get clearance for use of the word KINGS in that company name! :) =============
thanj you so much for taking the time to answer me. Out of interest how much would your company charge to register up this name??
thanks =============
