help where start life insurance

I am 46 years old, unemployed/disabled so class myself as retired.
Just got divorced so now living in a council house, No dependants ? only my cat!
I have no life insurance of any sort as every thing was joint, he used to sort it all out for us both so this has now all been stopped by ex!

So where do I start, which site do i go to? what cover do i need?
Do i need to go to a broker or can i sort this myself?
Are funeral plans a good thing, the money back plans which you see on the TV?

I have 3 children and 3 grandchildren so would like to leave them something when the time comes as well as cover funeral costs.

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thankyou
||| Simple answer is to contact an independent financial adviser.get advice and shop around before you commit yourself to anything.
The trade body has a website-www.unbiased.co.uk-they will give you a list of the advisers in your area.If you make contact with one, they will come and see you and assess your needs and make recommendations as to products which are suitable for you. ||| Quote: Are funeral plans a good thing, the money back plans which you see on the TV? They are totally rubbish. The advertise "no salesman will call" as a way to make you feel better but in reality no adviser will call because we wouldnt touch them with a barge pole.

Quote: Do i need to go to a broker or can i sort this myself? You can do it yourself through on online IFA or face to face.

Quote: So where do I start, which site do i go to? what cover do i need? If you do it yourself, you really need to know the answers to those questions.

Quote: have 3 children and 3 grandchildren so would like to leave them something when the time comes as well as cover funeral costs. You are going to need to use trusts as well then with the life assurance. So, if you go down the DIY route you will need to research those as well.
