Just a quickie.

I've noticed that sometimes in sage my bank current account (1200) appears in black text, sometimes in red.

It is always in credit so what makes it change colour?

Yours curiously
=============
It should only turn red when you are in debit. Don't forget that Sage accounts for each payment made at the time it is made and not the time it actually leaves your bank account so often the figure on your 1200 bank account won't match that of your physical account.
=============
Thanks for the reply Sara. But it is turning red even though the physical and the sage account always remain in credit. I went into the balance sheet to check and it was still showing the bank account as being an asset so it 'knows' it's not overdrawn.

I've noticed this before. I gave up trying to work out why it goes red years ago - the balances are definitely correct!

sorry, that doesn't help, but I wouldn't worry about it :)

I've never seen this, but thanks to this post won't panic when Sage starts trying to trick me. :D
=============
For some reason I see the debits & credits being mixed up here...

Anyway... I recall also seeing it change but can't quite remember what it was. I'm sure it's something to do with the transaction - either type, reconciled or not... something along those lines.

Just remembered... quite sure the red ones are deleted transactions!

Sorry, been a while since I keep the records myself.
=============
Yes, they are deleted transactions. I remember spending hours trying to work this one out a few years ago with a client who was using Sage Instant Accounts.
=============
How would deleted transactions make the bank balance red?
I know that in the Financials screen (audit trail list) any deleted transactions are red.
But in the Bank screen, is it simply that it's flagged red because there are deleted transactions in there?

I think that is the case Jenni. I'm no Sage expert (I hate it if the truth be known) but I do recall some years ago spending a long time trying to work out why some bank entries were in red.

Hopefully some Sage expert will be along later to give us chapter and verse on the matter.

Regards.

David.

How very bizarre!
I'm no Sage expert either. Quite like using it, know it very well to a point, would never force it on anyone though! :cool:
