Hi everyone!
A little Tax question (and sorry for the lame topic..) :
I am currently living in Florida, USA where I have a Limited Liability Company (LLC).
I am interested in forming a company in the UK and use it for business with clients in the EU. A majority of these clients are companies (outside the UK) so in order to avoid any misunderstandings I think I will have to register for VAT in the UK.
My thought was to form the UK LTD company with my US LLC owning all the shares and I guess I would put myself in the position as the director.
Now my questions are:
How will this UK LTD company be taxed?
Could the US LLC take out monthly dividends or what would you recommend in order to take out any eventual profit?
Or should I appoint myself as the director and take the profit out as salary, and if so would my non UK presence mean anything?
I hope I didnt create a total mess here, just curious on whats can or cant be done. =============
Hi, you have a good deal of questions here but im certain they all depend on your individual position as a company and what industry you are in exactly. My advice would be to speak with an accountant.
You will have to meet with an accountant in the UK before you appoint one as the UK are tight on Money Laundering regulations however we have plenty of clients who we look after with Ltd's companies in the UK but live and operate abroad so it's fully possible. =============
The company will be taxed on its profits, under corporation tax rates and rules. Re dividends or salary then this will require an accountant as the advice needs to be specific to your particular situation and tax circumstances. For example how many days a year are you going to be in the UK?
There are many accountants who have international links & branches, and your best bet is to find a US accountant with a UK branch or associate. That way you'll be covered all round. Most of the big firms will have this in place. =============
For example how many days a year are you going to be in the UK?
Hi there,
During the past 2-3 years I havent spend more than 10-15 days per year in the UK and I dont see any changes to that.
This branch/company would be managed 100% from outside the UK and all clients are to be found outside of the UK. =============
